A Group of Jinn Accept Islam at Nakhla
إسلام الجن في نخلة
On the Prophet's return from Ta'if, while he was at Nakhla (a valley between Mecca and Ta'if), he stood in prayer during the night reciting the Quran. A group of jinn passed by and listened to his recitation. They returned to their people as warners, saying: 'O our people, we have heard a Book sent down after Musa, confirming what came before it. It guides to the truth and to a straight path.' Allah revealed Surah al-Jinn (72) and the passage in Surah al-Ahqaf (46:29-32) about this event. This was a consolation to the Prophet after the rejection at Ta'if: while the humans of Thaqif rejected him, the jinn accepted his message. The incident demonstrated that the Prophet's mission was not limited to humans but extended to all of creation. Some scholars note that groups of jinn visited the Prophet on multiple occasions, and he taught them and answered their questions.
