6. إعداد الطعام من قِبَل أهل المتوفى
The obligation placed on the family of the dead person to prepare food for gatherings is incorrect based on the previously mentioned statement of the Prophet’s companion, al-Bajalee. Furthermore, it contradicts the Prophet’s explicit instruction to relatives, friends and neighbours to send food to the bereaving family. َﻔﹶﺭٍ ﻗﹶﺎلﻌ ﺠﻲ ﻨﹶﻌﺎﺀﺎ ﺠﻔﹶﺭٍ ﻗﹶﺎلَ ﻟﹶﻤﻌﻥِ ﺠﺩِ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻪِ ﺒﺒ ﻋﻥﻋ ﻭلُ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻪِ ﺴ ﺭ r : )) ﻔﹶﺭٍ ﻌﻭﺍ ِﻵلِ ﺠﻨﹶﻌﺍﺼ ﻡﺸﹾﻐﹶﻠﹸﻬ ﻴﺭ ﺃَﻤ ﺃَﻭﻡﺸﹾﻐﹶﻠﹸﻬﺎ ﻴ ﻤﻡ ﺃَﺘﹶﺎﻫﺎ ﻓﹶﻘﹶﺩﺎﻤﻁﹶﻌ ((. ‘Abdullaah ibn Ja‘far said: When the announcement of Ja‘far’s death came, the Messenger of Allaah (r) said, “Prepare food for Ja‘far’s family, for something has happened to them which is distracting them [from their needs].”50 ﻠﹶﻰﻭﻥِ ﻋﺯﺤﻟِﻠﹾﻤﺭِﻴﺽِ ﻭ ﺒِﺎﻟﺘﱠﻠﹾﺒِﻴﻥِ ﻟِﻠﹾﻤﺭﺎ ﻜﹶﺎﻨﹶﺕﹾ ﺘﹶﺄْﻤﺎ ﺃَﻨﱠﻬﻨﹾﻬ ﻋﻀِﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻪﺎﺌِﺸﹶﺔﹶ ﺭ ﻋﻥﺓﹶ ﻋﻭﺭ ﻋﻥﻋ ﻜﹶﺎﻨﹶﺕﹾ ﺘﹶﻘﹸﻭلُ ﺇِﻨﱢﻲ ﺴﺎﻟِﻙِ ﻭﺍﻟﹾﻬ ﻘﹸﻭلُ ﻴﻠﱠﻡﺴﻪِ ﻭﻠﹶﻴ ﻋﻠﱠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻪﻭلَ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻪِ ﺼﺴﺕﹸ ﺭﻤِﻌ : )) ﺍﻟﺘﱠﻠﹾﺒِﻴﻨﹶﺔﹶ ﺘﹸﺠِﻡﺇِﻥ ﻥِﺯﺽِ ﺍﻟﹾﺤﻌ ﺒِﺒﺏﺘﹶﺫﹾﻫﺭِﻴﺽِ ﻭ ﺍﻟﹾﻤﻓﹸﺅَﺍﺩ ((. ‘Urwah related that ‘Aa’ishah used to recommend talbeenah51 for the sick and those grieving over a death.
